Jackie & Scott in Asheville, NC

Jackie & Scott in Asheville, NC
Following a romantic fourth of July proposal, Jackie and Scott held an outdoor wedding in Asheville, NC.

Location: Inn on Biltmore Estate, Asheville
The three-tier ivory cake was accented with simple greenery and fresh roses and flavored with raspberry filling.
Jackie carried a mix of white flowers accented with apricot and red roses and greens. Her bridesmaids carried apricot and red roses mixed with baby‘s breath.
During the outdoor ceremony overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, the couple recited vows that they had written for each other.
After the ceremony, Scott surprised Jackie with a ride through the estate in a horse-drawn carriage. "It was like a fairy tale," she says. Because most guests traveled to attend the wedding, they were shuttled back and forth between the hotel and reception site via Excursion limousine.
Jackie accented her strapless, ivory, Watters & Watters gown with a double strand of antique pearls and pearl earrings that had once belonged to Scott‘s grandmother. Her veil featured two layers of tulle held in place with pearl combs.
The four bridesmaids wore strapless, chocolate brown satin dresses by Watters & Watters, while the maid of honor and matron of honor stood out in champagne-color versions of the same styles.
While attending Brevard College, sophomore Jackie met senior Scott, and a relationship was born. But before these two lovebirds could be together permanently, they had to survive college and a bit of long distance. After graduation, Scott took a job four hours away from Brevard, which meant long commutes for the couple to be together. Two years later, after Jackie graduated, this twosome's love for each other was still going strong, so Jackie made the move to upstate New York, where Scott was working at the time, to make their relationship official.

On the Fourth of July, Scott pulled together an extra-special dinner: "I'll never forget...He had shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, sausage on the grill, potato salad, and my favorite spinach salad," says Jackie. Afterward, they went to see fireworks, and as they lay on a blanket watching the sky illuminate with bursts of light, Scott proposed. Jackie happily accepted, and the couple immediately decided to hold their wedding at, appropriately enough, the Biltmore Estate.
