In the early morning hours on their wedding day, Suzanne and Tripp paddled out to the very spot where he had proposed to her a year ago. There they privately shared their wedding vows with each other before they went their separate ways to prepare for the day to come. Tripp‘s mother captained the boat with the bridesmaids aboard to The Point for the ceremony. Once they docked, the women rang a cowbell to signal their arrival and waited for the groomsmen to ring back that they were ready, too. "I will never forget that moment," Suzanne says. "All the girls started screaming and ringing the bell again. The ceremony had begun."
The ceremony was performed by Tripp‘s sister and focused on the theme of union. The couple exchanged vows, promising to love each other and grow together. Tripp vowed to always love Suzanne‘s grilled cheese sandwiches, and she vowed always to make them for him. All the groomsmen were barefoot as was Tripp, but when the ceremony was finished, the "boot boy" presented Tripp with a boot -- and the groom smashed a glass with his heel to guests‘ cries of "mazel tov!"
At Trillium Landings, there was a lot of dancing, including Suzanne and Tripp‘s first dance to Harry Connick Jr.‘s "Recipe for Love." When the party was over, guests held sparklers high as the couple climbed into their getaway boat adorned with a "Just Married" sign. Just then, Tripp‘s cousin kicked off the grand finale: a real fireworks display. "It was a fairy-tale ending," Suzanne says. "We rode off in the boat across the lake as the fireworks lit up the sky."
Tripp and Suzanne often visit his Dad's summer home in Cashiers on Lake Glenville. It's also the scene of some of their very best memories as a couple: It was where Tripp first told Suzanne he loved her, and where, four years after they met, he proposed on a rock overlooking a waterfall.

"Tripp always imagined getting married on the lake," says Suzanne, "and I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to say our vows." The ceremony took place on a peninsula known as The Point. Tripp and his groomsmen built a huppah from fallen trees; and instead of chairs, bales of hay were arranged with an aisle down the center. Guests were ferried to The Point and back to the reception site, Trillium Landings, on deck boats.
